Although the back of the photograph is dated September 29, an official calendar of events states that the dedication was at 1:30 p.m. on September 28. Springfield Mayor Richard E. Neal cut the ribbon at the ceremony, officially marking the beginning of on-campus festivities. The College celebrated its 100th anniversary with a multitude of events throughout the academic year, starting with a display booth at the Big E on September 12, 1984 and ending with a centennial film festival on June 2, 1985.
